22 Harley Place

This project transformed a modest two-storey property, originally a one-bedroom flat above garages, into a high-end private residence. The client wanted a modern three-storey mews house while keeping the traditional frontage. Therefore, the building now blends heritage character with contemporary interiors where clean lines meet natural light.

Whistlers first stripped out and demolished the existing structure. They then installed temporary bracing to secure the site during early works. Next, they excavated the ground floor and cast a new slab to form a solid foundation. After that, the team constructed the building frame and completed structural work on the upper floors.

At the same time, Whistlers installed mechanical and electrical systems, including plumbing and a fire alarm. In addition, they upgraded the above-ground drainage. Meanwhile, the team added the new roof and dormers to maximise space and natural light. A bespoke staircase now connects all three levels.

The internal finishes focused on high-quality materials and precise craftsmanship. The team carried out plastering, ceramic tiling, and installed new floors, doors, and ceilings in sequence. Furthermore, they fitted the kitchen as a central feature, combining functionality with refined design. Finally, internal decorations and final touches unified the aesthetic.

Externally, the mews retained its original character. Sympathetic decoration and detailing ensured the house fits seamlessly into the surrounding streetscape. At the same time, internal spaces feel open, bright, and modern. Natural light flows throughout, defining each room and enhancing the sense of space.

Through careful planning and precise execution, Whistlers delivered a bespoke mews house that balances traditional character with contemporary living. Ultimately, the result provides a practical, elegant, and welcoming home in the heart of London.
