The refurbishment involved a Grade II listed property arranged over lower ground, three upper floors and roof level. Whistlers delivered a comprehensive programme of works, beginning with a soft strip-out before carrying out structural alterations to create new openings and a rear extension. The historic fabric was carefully protected throughout.
Externally, we completed façade repairs and cleaning, renewed the roof coverings to the existing building and extension, and repaired or replaced the windows. Under our contractor’s design portion, the roof was altered and upgraded to create new outdoor terrace space. Works also included the external vaults and replacement of the lightwell staircase.
The internal works included a complete renewal of the mechanical, electrical and public health services, including the removal of the existing gas supplies. We replaced the fan coil units on every floor, together with the associated plant and pipework at roof level.
The refurbishment was completed with new kitchens, sanitaryware, doors, and floor and wall finishes throughout. The result is a modern, high-quality property that retains the character of its listed fabric.
