OUR STORY

Founded in 1968 by John Whistler Snr, Whistlers is a trusted, family-run specialist contractor in Central London. For over five decades, we’ve built a reputation for quality, reliability, and craftsmanship on complex, high-profile projects across the capital.

We excel where strategic planning, precision, and adaptability matter most. Central London demands innovative solutions to logistical and environmental challenges – our expertise lies in navigating these while delivering both value engineering and bespoke, luxury finishes in close collaboration with clients and their teams.

Our Marylebone office keeps senior management close to projects, enabling regular site visits, hands-on oversight, and immediate support. It also provides flexible space for client meetings, formal or informal.

THE TEAM

Our team brings practical skill, experience, and deep knowledge of Central London construction. We invest in developing talent through apprenticeships and internal progression, building expertise from the ground up. This continuity means every project benefits from informed decision-making and a collaborative approach where senior management remains hands-on and accessible.

SUPPLY CHAIN PARTNERS

We’ve built long-standing relationships with our supply chain – many subcontractors and suppliers have worked with us for years, ensuring consistency and quality on every project. New partners are thoroughly vetted to meet our standards for capability, safety, and professionalism.

Our network includes highly specialised trades, artisans, and suppliers across diverse disciplines, from heritage restoration to contemporary architectural finishes.

HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Safety is a core priority at Whistlers. Independent audits regularly place us among the highest performing contractors, and all staff receive tailored, role-specific training. Senior leadership provides expert oversight, ensuring prompt and effective responses to any incident.

We maintain full compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, building regulations, and industry standards. Regular site audits, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems help us proactively manage risks and maintain high standards across all projects.

Whistlers holds Safe Contractor certification, and many sites participate in the Considerate Constructors Scheme, consistently exceeding expectations.

SUSTAINABILITY & ENVIRONMENT

Sustainability is embedded in how we work. We minimise waste, reduce carbon emissions, and implement responsible practices on every project. Our fleet includes electric and Euro 6-compliant vehicles to ensure low emissions.

We track waste, energy, and water use through SmartWaste and prioritise sustainable sourcing across our supply chain. Aligned with the UK government’s Net Zero 2050 target, we’re committed to responsible site management and continuous environmental improvement.

CUSTOMER CARE & AFTERCARE

Our Customer Service Team provides support during project handover and throughout the 12-month defects period. We respond promptly to post-completion issues and maintain direct communication to ensure client satisfaction and build long-term relationships.

THE STEVE G LEGACY

Stevie G

Following the passing of our former director, Steve Gallagher, in October 2025, we wanted to find a meaningful way to honor his memory. Steve dedicated 20 years of his career to Whistlers and, as anyone who knew him will tell you, he truly gave his life and soul to the place – a legendary character who lit up every room he walked into.

To keep that spirit alive, we have decided that all our new apprenticeships will be dedicated to him. It’s our way of making sure the passion and heart Steve brought to the job are passed on to the next generation.

APPRENTICESHIPS

Fin1

Finley Miller is a Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery apprentice on a two-year course that officially began this January. Having joined the team around the time of Steve’s passing, he is the first to train under this dedication. Over the next two years, he will be splitting his time between college and gaining hands-on experience on-site to earn his qualifications.
