This project involved the comprehensive refurbishment of a Grade II listed property in London, covering the lower ground, ground, and four upper floors. The scheme carefully balanced heritage preservation with modern upgrades, ensuring the building retains its historic character. At the same time, it meets contemporary standards of comfort, efficiency, and performance.
The works began with a full soft strip-out. Significant structural alterations followed, creating new openings and improving the property’s spatial flow. Externally, the façade works included window repair and replacement, masonry repairs and cleaning, and new roof coverings for both existing and extended areas. Additionally, roof alterations created new terrace spaces to enhance amenity.
Internally, the project delivered a complete fit-out. High-quality finishes, bespoke joinery, kitchens, and sanitaryware were installed throughout. All public health, mechanical, and electrical systems were fully renewed. For example, existing gas supplies were removed, and new fan coil units, plant, and pipework were installed at roof level.
External works also included vault refurbishments and upgrades to lightwell staircases. These improvements enhanced accessibility, functionality, and aesthetics. Every stage of the project demonstrated careful planning and expert craftsmanship.
Overall, this Grade II listed refurbishment showcases Whistlers’ ability to combine heritage sensitivity with modern design. By integrating structural upgrades, premium internal fit-outs, and sympathetic external works, the scheme delivers a property that harmoniously blends historic character with contemporary living.
