The project transformed an Edwardian heritage property into a modern medical facility. The works began with a full strip-out of the interiors and demolition of redundant structures. This preparation created a clear framework for the redevelopment.

The team then carried out major structural alterations. These included basement works, new structural steelwork for open office space, roof modifications, and a new passenger lift shaft at the rear. Each stage strengthened the property while making it suitable for modern medical use.

Externally, the façade received detailed restoration. The programme covered window repairs or replacements, façade cleaning and repairs, plus new roof coverings on both the existing and extended areas. Inside, the fit-out introduced high-quality finishes, fixtures, and fittings. Public health, mechanical, electrical, and lift installations ensured the building met modern performance standards.

The external vaults also required attention. The works included damp proofing and underpinning in the rear lightwell where the lift shaft was built. At the same time, the team renewed all M&E services. They removed old gas supplies and installed efficient, sustainable systems. Temporary works and steel connections supported safe construction and long-term durability.

The completed facility successfully combines heritage with innovation. Restored Edwardian details preserve the building’s history, while sustainable features future-proof it for medical use. As a result, the property now functions as a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

This transformation demonstrates best practice in heritage refurbishment and adaptive reuse. It shows how careful design and sustainable construction can respect history while meeting today’s healthcare demands.
