Pembroke Gardens

Whistlers redeveloped and modernised a two-storey residential property in Pembroke Gardens Close, Kensington. The project upgraded and extended the home while improving energy efficiency, comfort, and design quality.

First, we rebuilt the existing studio into a playroom and integrated it with the main house. Next, we constructed a rear link extension to connect the playroom to the house. We also added a two-storey front extension that matched the original elevation. Additionally, we installed a first-floor rear conservatory with a roof lantern, providing natural light and extra amenity space. Meanwhile, we replaced all external windows and doors, including a solid timber front door with a fanlight, to match the property’s original character.

Then, we upgraded the mechanical and electrical systems. We installed an air-source heat pump, underfloor heating, and air conditioning throughout the property. We also added solar panels on the east and south roof slopes, reducing energy consumption and supporting sustainability goals. Furthermore, we renewed roof finishes with natural slate, leadwork, and liquid rubber flat roofing for long-term durability.

Inside, Whistlers refurbished all rooms with high-quality finishes, fixtures, and bespoke detailing. We combined contemporary functionality with classic architectural features. Moreover, careful planning allowed trades to work efficiently, and we coordinated deliveries and on-site operations effectively.

Finally, the project balanced tradition with modern requirements. As a result, the completed home offers a refined, comfortable, and sustainable family living space that fully meets the client’s expectations while respecting the character of the Kensington neighbourhood.
